What does a walking safari/trail entail?
Walking trails are usually 3 or 4 night trails in remote and spectacular wilderness areas. During the trail you either walk from a base camp or a camp that will be moved every night to a new location.
Walks are led by two experienced and armed guides and have a maximum of 8 participants. Walks set out at sunrise and vary in length and difficulty depending on the terrain, fitness of the trailists as well as the type of trail. You are certain to see the spoor of a variety of predators and have every prospect of encountering a wide array of wildlife.
Evenings are spent gathered around the camp fire, ears attuned to the sounds of the bush, whilst your guide prepares the evening meal.
Depending on the trail you do, there are proper toilet and shower facilities or you will learn the art of using a bush toilet and bucket shower!
What do I need to pack for a walking safari?
We will send you a complete list upon booking, so you know exactly what to bring. It entirely depends on the type of trail you book. Some trails require you to carry your sleeping bag and mattress, food for the duration of the trail as well as your cloths. On other trails you just carry a small daypack with water and snacks/lunch.
Good, worn-in hiking shoes, light clothing in earth tones, good sunglasses and a hat as well as binoculars and a comfortable backpack are essential for every trail.

Am I insured in case anything happens?
Kukummi Safaris has all the necessary insurances in place such as Liability Insurance and Professional Indemnity. However it is very important to take out adequate travel insurance for your holiday. Contact your insurance broker and explain the nature of your tour to get the best possible cover.
How can I book for one of your tours?
You can send us an email on info@kukummi.com with your requirements, wishes, budget, dates etc. Kindly provide as much information as possible so we can make a personal quotation for you. Once we have finalized your quote and you have accepted it we will send you a booking form for your to complete and sign. Upon booking we require a deposit with the balance to be settled one month before departure.
