Highlights

Itinerary April – November

Day 1: Arrive at OR Tambo in the morning. Travel to Mpumalanga Drakensberg and reach your hotel situated in a stunning location. Inhale the fresh mountain air and start relaxing…

Day 2: Travel to Phalaborwa via splendid scenery on the Panorama Route and visit Graskop, historic mining town Pilgrims Rest, viewpoint Gods Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes and viewpoint Three Rondavels.

Day 3: The morning is spend with a local guide on a cultural tour, where you visit the LekaGape orphanage, a traditional doctor and travel through the township gaining insight into local history and present day realities. Later that day you depart on an evening safari in Kruger Park followed by a hearty bushbraai in a remote location in the game park.

Day 4: Spend a full day in Kruger Park on safari. Find elephants, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, lion and leopard, rhino and maybe even a cheetah if you have keen eyesight! A picnic breakfast and lunch is served to make the day complete.

Day 5: Early rise as you are joining an exciting walking safari this morning. Two armed guides will show you the wonders of nature on foot. Track spoor, smell and hear animals and get up-close-and-personal with them!

Following lunch we head to the Olifants River for a River Safari where you see hippo, crocodile, elephant and other wildlife close to the boat. Tonight you enjoy an African night: a fun filled evening with African traditional dance, singing and drumming.

Day 6: Enter Kruger Park and travel to the most northern tip where you partake in a 4 day/3 night walking safari. This trail is very personal and intimate with only 8 guests and 2 guides. Arrive at the campsite where your comfortable, fully equipped dome tent is waiting and explore this magnificent part of Kruger on your first walk.

Day 7: Long morning walks and shorter afternoon walks are alternated with hearty home cooked meals, accompanied with your favourite drink. Leisurely time is enjoyed around the campfire, where you reflect on the exciting events of the day.

Day 8: For two days you will be walking in this remote area filled with natural springs, rock faces, ancient baobab trees, a fever tree forest and come eye-to-eye with the magnificent animals of the bush.

Day 9: The trail ends at main camp with a sumptuous brunch, after which you travel to Punda Maria Gate to exit the Kruger Park. Travel to the heart of former homeland Venda and settle in at Madi a Thavha Mountain Farm.

Day 10: Spend a relaxing morning at the guesthouse or take part in an excursion to the many arts & crafts workshops in this rural area. Travel to Johannesburg to catch a flight home or to your next destination.
